| BMW I8 Roadster Concept Shown at Los Angeles Motor Show |
With the presence of the BMW i8 roadster concept as the third model in the company 'i' line-up, has been offering new concept car at the Los Angeles motor show event in 2012. Previously, mobi mercedes seen earlier this year at the Beijing motor show exhibition, roadster concept uses carbon fiber construction same as that used on the family i8 coupé to be launched in 2013.
Unlike the 2 +2 coupe as this layout, roadster itself is a strict two-seater and has a shallow rear deck on the sloping roof of the line-the coupé's.
However, BMW has not confirmed how the roof mechanism would work. although the lift-out panels used are also made from carbon fiber this is the most likely choice. I8 roadster will use the same drivetrain configuration as on the coupé, which means using the 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine developing a power of 220bhp and driving the rear wheels. While on the electric motor, with power equivalent to around 134bhp driving the front.
